5/7 Road Warriors?

The Red Sox(11-16) open a 3 game series in Kansas City(9-18) tonight, and just like the end of the first home stand they need to get out of town. This time after losing 5 in a row at home.  Hopefully the road will be kind to them like it was in Minnesota and Chicago.  Tonight's pitching matchup is Felix Doubront LHP vs. Jonathan Sanchez LHP.

According to multiple twitter accounts the Red Sox are not planning any roster moves today.  That comes as quite a surprise since they played a 17 inning game yesterday and taxed the pen pretty good.  They need Doubront to give them a big performance tonight.  The bullpen will likely come down to Padilla, Miller, Mortensen, Aceves with Beckett and perhaps Bard being used in an emergency.  You have to think that Morales, Atchison, Albers and Hill are not available.  Aceves likely wouldn't be available but his right arm is made of rubber.  I also wouldn't be surprised to see them use Doubront and Bard tonight and get a complete game and then have Beckett start tomorrow instead of Bard.  Nothing is out of the question at this point.

Here is my predicted line up for today:

Aviles SS
Pedroia 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Ross LF
Ortiz DH
Middlebrooks 3B
Sweeney RF (may get his first start against a LHP since McDonald may need a day off after pitching yesterday if not he'll be in this spot and playing LF with Ross in RF)
Shoppach C
Byrd CF

Doubront SP

Tune in for a LIVE CHAT tonight during the game.  Check it out and prepare to be entertained.  Let's keep the faith!!

  2. Looks like Beckett is going to be starting on Thursday. So he won't be pitching out of the pen tonight nor will Bard unless we play another extra inning marathon.
