Terry Francona will be at the Fenway 100th

The news came down this afternoon that Terry Francona has reconsidered declining the Red Sox invitation to Friday's Fenway 100 year celebration.   I am not sure what caused this change of heart, but it is only fitting the greatest manager of entire Red Sox history attend.  I cannot wait to hear the ovation Tito will surely receive, not only as thanks for the 2 world titles, but as a chance to say goodbye as Sox skipper.  It should be interesting to say the least to hear the reaction for Tito vs. Bobby V.

With all living former Sox players, coaches, and managers invited it will be a treat to see who does attend. We can savor the history of our ball park and team for a coupe of hours, and then get on with the business of 2012.

Thanks Terry for coming to our party

  1. Any chance we can have Heathcliff Slocumb (if you got'em) come out, wave, and then be quickly replaced by Lowe and Varitek?

    1. While we are at it perhaps we can have Larry Anderson come in from the bullpen in the DeLorean and drive straight at the green monster only to hit 86 mph prior to hitting the wall, then have Jeff Bagwell enter through the door in the monster. Thus reversing history a la back to the future.

  3. I'm glad Tito will attend. Classy move by him. Or, basically the exact opposite of how somebody in the Sox leadership smeared him through the Boston papers on his departure. Can he have a huge wad of gum and chew in the cheek the entire time for old times sake?

    1. Tito is definitely a classy guy, but I wouldn't blame him one bit if his reason for coming would be to gloat a little bit. He has every right to gloat about the fact that players, fans, management and owners are quickly realizing they didn't know how good they had it until he was gone. By him being there he will have a chance to get the last word via the fans reaction.

    2. Can he put on a uniform and replace #25 in the dugout for old times sake? If Theo can leave and come back why can't Tito? I'm officially starting the let's rehire Tito campaign. Let's get it rolling!!!
